Prerequisites

Must have completed a CMSC Teacher Training course.

When to take the TTP

The TTP has been mandatory since January of 2020 for all trainees who wish to become Trained MSC Teachers. The TTP is primarily designed to take place after your residential or online teacher training and before your first teaching experience. If you started your teacher training after January 2020, the TTP is required before you start teaching your first 8-week MSC course.

Overview

The TTP provides new teachers with a “laboratory” to find their own voices and to continue to practice what they learned during the Residential/Live Online Teacher Training course, with time between each session to review, prepare and reflect on the process of teaching MSC. This cohort model allows participants the unique opportunity to build an environment of safety and support among colleagues as a source of encouragement and assistance long after the practicum ends.

Each week focuses on a single MSC session and all trainees come prepared to teach each session in its entirety just as you would prepare a whole class if you were teaching your own group. Please note that this represents a considerable time investment! Trainees are then assigned to lead the various practices, topics and exercises of that session, with periods of feedback and discussion - so no one trainee will be teaching the entire class, usually at most just one piece each session but preparing the whole class is invaluable learning and preparation for becoming an MSC Teacher and is an integral part of the Practicum training.

All TTPs are held online via the Zoom platform and each weekly session is 2.5 hours duration. Full instruction will be given on how to log in and prepare for your first session approximately one week before the start date.

Your Commitment

Please plan to attend all 10 sessions. For successful completion of the TTP, attendance at all 10 sessions is required. In the case of an unplanned issue, you will need to address it with your Senior Practicum Trainer for negotiation.
