In MSC we ask the central question, “What may I need at this moment?” In This 3-hour workshop we will come to discover, “What may my body need at this moment? “This workshop will be an opportunity to explore embodiment: what it is, what it means for us personally and in our work with clients, and the intimate relationship that exists between embodiment and self-compassion.

Through didactic and experiential learning, including, somatic practices, self-reflective questions, feedback and discussion, we will explore what it means to develop a deeper relationship with our own bodies as clinicians, along with the blocks we may face with this, so that we may better understand our clients relationship to “body backdraft,” be aware and attentive as it happens, and the way in which the practice of embodiment can soothe and embrace these moments allowing self-compassion to grow for body and self.
